HOW TO MEASURE IT

1Sit or lie with both legs straight and the muscle relaxed.
2Find the base of the kneecap, and measure 15 cm above it.
3Take the tape around the thigh at that line, snug and not tight.
4Read it to the nearest tenth of a centimetre, both legs, the same way.

Every part of this is the method a blood-flow-restriction trial in cartilage and meniscus repair used: thigh muscle size measured 15 cm proximal to the base of the patella with a standard tape, recorded to the nearest 0.1 cm, on the operated and the other leg.
